Baby M Blessing day

Out of all the pictures taken you can't see the dress in any of them. So I'll have to come up with some kind of sweet setup to show it off. It was cute.

(thanks, Heidi, for the perfect haircut)

The Good Report

1. Inspiration for kids clothes
2. My mom taught me how to embroidery during their visit. I can't wait to use it.
3. A friend took L to play at her house for a couple of hours. She had fun and so did I. :)
4. Jeff's sister surprised us with a knock on our door at 2AM. All the way from Boston. It was awesome!
5. Baby M is emerging from the newborn coma.
6. I did lots of sewing this week. It felt great. Made more of these shirts in long sleeve for L to wear now.
7. We are starting to understand L a lot more. She's saying more words.
8. Time to myself.
9. Went to a housewarming party with some amazing eats.
10. When the girls nap at the same time. Then I nap too.

P.S. I've got to get crackin' on family pics or we are not going to have a Christmas card. What to wear?

Dining Out

Have I mentioned that I love eating out? Love it, love it, love it. Jeff's sisters were in town for the baby blessing so we hit Pizzeria 712 for lunch. If you go, get yourself the braised beef panini. Mmmmm....

****This is what three days without a nap looks like. Later that night it got real ugly.

remember the last time?

World's fastest family

You've got to be quick with my sister's kids. (Can't say I'm great at quick, but I like these). The rascals don't sit still for long and it was FREEZING cold. I'm glad we did it though. Especially since I've been wanting an excuse to use this location. Cherry boxes stacked a mile high at the orchard near her house.

Now I need to photograph someone/family using the wooden palettes stacked a mile high. Very cool.

The Pumpkin Patch {A Preview}

Good times: The slide and the corn pit. Petting zoo and Seeing some old friends from "the branch".

Not so good times: Tantrums, tears, and way too hot for an October day. Not to mention a million pound pig that was totally grossing me out.

More goodness to come after I sleep for days and recover from a fun, but exhausting weekend.

The Good Report

1. Major, major breakthrough with brushing L's teeth this week. The freak-outs have been drastically reduced and she is cooperating after many weeks of nightmarish bedtime routine.
2. Feeling very grateful for all our family members who made the trip for this weekend.
3. Cold, cold and more cold weather. Oh yeah!
4. Started sewing a few Sailboat tops for L. Oh. My. Goodness. Can't wait to show the results.
5. A successful shopping trip with sister-in-law.

Baby M, two weeks

I love this photo. love it, love it, love it. I could just eat her up.

October 29, 2009

Daddy/daughter time

She's been getting a lot of it these days. Sometimes she's happy about it. Sometimes she's not.....

....but when she's not it's quickly forgotten once she hits the swings.

Birthday preparations

I started collecting items for L's December birthday way back when. Here's a glimpse of the color scheme and some of the decor. I hope a few of you can come. We'll be eating great food.

Who wants the banner when I'm done? Most of it was from scraps so I don't feel too guilty. Some little girl's room perhaps? You'll have to wait until December though.

From Holly

These babies lasted almost three weeks. Just the thing I needed. A little cheery glimpse each morning. Every time I get flowers I think to myself, "I should buy flowers every week".

Baby M, 10 days old

I cried when she was born. And I cried when my sister gave me this quilt.

Ode to the paci

Yesterday morning the paci bought me an extra hour of sleep. That one hour felt like ten. Thank you to the inventor of this little lovely.

this totally cracks me up because its as big as her face

P.S. The experience of baby #2 is so much easier than the first. For me the first was filled with a lot of fear, but this time around I knew I could do it. I knew what to expect. I know she will eventually fall asleep, stop crying, and that tomorrow a whole year will have already passed. So I'm enjoying the newborn phase much much more. And that is a great feeling.

The brighter side of Halloween

I found this cute mask at JoAnn's (dollar bin). I think L and I will be playing around with it.

At the rate we're going I may even feel good enough to set a cute table for our little family.

Costumes for the girls.....Not so much.

September 29, 2009

I'm loving this....

And hoping our home has this feeling for us and our girls. Now and as they get older.

Gemütlichkeit is a German abstract noun that has been adopted into English. Its closest equivalent is the word “coziness”; however, rather than merely describing a place that is compact, well-heated and nicely furnished (a cozy room, a cozy flat), Gemütlichkeit connotes the notion of belonging, social acceptance, cheerfulness, the absence of anything hectic and the opportunity to spend quality time.
